Drug Name
Differin (adapalene) is a topical medicine (retinoid like compound) that aids the skin in renewing itself. It is used to cure acne.
How it is taken
Please read the information booklet that accompanies the medication or contact your doctor or pharmacist for exact dosage information. You must clean the affected area with water and dry. Now apply a thin film of the medication and rub in gently.
Missed Dosage
If you miss a dose of, then skip this dose and continue with the regular dosage. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed dose.
Storage
Store it at room temperature in an air tight container protecting it from direct exposure to light, heat and moisture. Keep away from pets and children.
Warnings/Precautions
It appears that your skin condition has worsened especially in the first few weeks of treatment. However, continue with the treatment for the full course.
If you use cosmetics, then wash the area thoroughly before applying the medication.
If you are pregnant or suspect that you are, then stop using Differin and contact your doctor immediately. It is unknown whether Differin is secreted in breast milk. Avoid breast feeding while using the drug.
Differin may make you more sensitive to the sun so please avoid the sun, sunlamps or a tanning booth until you know how your body reacts to the drug. If you cannot avoid going out in the sun for a long while, then wear protective clothing or use a proper sunscreen.
Do not apply it to sunburned skin.
Possible Side Effects
Some of the common side effects of are include redness, itching, dryness, peeling, stinging, or a feeling of warmth. However, these are only temporary and go away with treatment. Please contact your doctor if the symptoms persist or become bothersome.
Other severe side effects include experience blistering, crusting, swelling, or excessive redness or peeling of your skin. You must seek medical attention immediately if any of these side effects occur.

If your symptoms do not improve or if they become worse, check with your doctor. Do not share this medicine with others for whom it was not prescribed. Do not use this medicine for other health conditions. Keep this medicine out of the reach of children. If using this medicine for an extended period of time, obtain refills before your supply runs out.
