Drug Uses
Lioresal is a muscle relaxant and antispastic agent used for the treatment of severe muscle spasms including multiple sclerosis or brain or spinal cord injuries.
How it is taken
The best way to use Lioresal is as recommended by your doctor.
Missed Dosage
If you miss a dose of Lioresal then contact your doctor right away. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed dose.
Warnings/Precautions
Discuss with your doctor about any prior medical condition that you may have including allergies to medicines, food or other substances, especially if you have allergies to medicines, if you are allergic to any ingredient in Lioresal, if you have an infection or very high blood pressure associated with a spinal injury, if you have kidney problems or kidney failure, suffer from nerve damage, bizarre behavior, or have had a stroke.
If you are pregnant or suspect that you are, then stop using Lioresal and contact your doctor immediately.
Certain drugs can interact with Lioresal and hence, mention clearly to your doctor or pharmacist all medicines, dietary supplements and herbal prescriptions that you are taking.
It is unknown whether Lioresal is secreted in breast milk. Avoid breast feeding while using the drug.
Lioresal should not be used in children younger than 4 years of age as the safety and effectiveness of the drug have not been confirmed yet.
Possible Side Effects
Some of the common side effects of are back pain, constipation, diarrhea, dizziness, drowsiness, fatigue, headache, increased breathing, increased salivation, itching, muscle weakness, nausea, problems urinating. Please contact your doctor if the symptoms persist or become bothersome.
Other severe side effects include allergic reactions (rash, hives, itching, difficulty breathing, tightness in the chest, and swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue), agitation, chills, inability to urinate, loss of muscle tone, seizures.
You must seek medical attention immediately if any of these side effects occur.
