PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Drug Uses
Adalat is used to treat angina and also for preventing hypertension. However, it may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.
How it is taken
The best way to use Adalat is exactly as directed by your doctor. The pill may be taken with or without food. Do not crush or chew the pill. Ensure that you swallow it whole.
Missed Dosage
If you miss a dose of Adalat then you may take it as soon as you remember and adjust the remaining doses accordingly. However, if it is nearly time for the next dose then you may skip this dose and continue with the regular dosage. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed dose.
Overdose
Some of the typical symptoms of Adalat overdose include dizziness, fainting, loss of consciousness, rapid, slow, or irregular heartbeat. Seek medical attention immediately if you suspect an overdose.
Warnings/Precautions
Do not take Adalat if you are allergic to any ingredient in the medication. Discuss in detail with your doctor any prior medical condition that you may have including heart valve problems, heart failure and related symptoms like swelling of the hands or feet and a slow heart rate, low blood pressure and fluid in your lungs.
Talk to your doctor before you receive any medical care, dental or emergency care or surgery.
If you are pregnant or suspect that you are, then stop using Adalat. It is unknown whether Adalat is secreted in breast milk. Avoid breast feeding while using the drug.
In certain brands, undissolved tablets are passed in the stool. There is no need to be concerned as this is completely normal.
Elederly patients may be more sensitive to it and may experience side effects.
Adalat is not to be used by children.
Possible Side Effects
Some of the common side effects are constipation, dizziness, flushing, giddiness, headache, heartburn, heat sensation, lightheadedness, nausea and weakness. You may consult your doctor if any of these symptoms become bothersome.
Severe symptoms like allergic reactions (rash, hives, itching, difficulty breathing, tightness in the chest, swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue), irregular pulse, shortness of breath, swelling of the feet or hands, tender, bleeding, or swollen gums may also occur. Seek medical attention immediately if you notice any of these side effects.
