Buspar is an antianxiety agent that is used for the treatment of generalized anxiety disorder. It works by creating a balance of chemicals in the brain of the affected person.
How it is taken
Buspar can be taken by mouth with food or with a glass of milk. The effects of the drug will start showing in as less as one week but the complete effect will only show in about 3 to 4 weeks of time.
Missed Dosage
If you miss a dose of, then you may take it as soon as you remember and adjust the remaining doses accordingly. However, if it is nearly time for the next dose then you may skip this dose and continue with the regular dosage. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed dose.
Overdose
An overdose can lead to symptoms like nausea, vomiting, dizziness, drowsiness, and decreased pupil size. You must seek medical attention immediately if you suspect a Buspar overdose.
Discuss with your doctor about any prior medical condition that you may have including allergies to medicines, food or other substances, liver or kidney disorders.
You must not take if you are allergic to any ingredient in it.
If you are pregnant or suspect that you are, then stop using and contact your doctor immediately.
Certain drugs can interact with and hence, mention clearly to your doctor or pharmacist all medicines, dietary supplements and herbal prescriptions that you are taking.
It is unknown whether is secreted in breast milk. Avoid breast feeding while using the drug.
Some of the possible side effects of Buspar are drowsiness, dizziness, lightheadedness, fatigue, weakness, vivid dreams, sleeplessness, dry skin, blurred vision, altered sense of taste and smell, weight gain, muscle aches, ringing in the ears, nausea, and headaches, abnormal movements or "twitches" of the face or neck muscles, other involuntary movements or tremors, depression, confusion, bad coordination, chest pain, breathing difficulty.
You must seek medical attention immediately if any of these side effects occur.
