PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Drug Uses
Floxin is an antibiotic used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections including sexually transmitted diseases (except syphilis), pelvic inflammatory disease, and infections of the urinary tract, prostate gland, and skin.
How it is taken
You may take Floxin with or without food. However, it is recommended that you drink plenty of water while taking Floxin. Dairy products, antacids, sucralfate or vitamins should be avoided for at least 2 hours after taking Floxin.
Missed Dosage
If you miss a dose of Floxin, then you may take it as soon as you remember and adjust the remaining doses accordingly. However, if it is nearly time for the next dose then you may skip this dose and continue with the regular dosage. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed dose.
Storage
Store it at room temperature (between between 68 and 77 degrees F (20 and 25 degrees C) in an air tight container protecting it from direct exposure to light, heat and moisture. Keep away from pets and children.
Overdose
Some of the symptoms of a Floxin overdose include facial swelling and numbness, hot and cold flushes, mild to moderate disorientation, slurring of speech. Seek medical attention immediately if you suspect an overdose.
Warnings/Precautions
Discuss with your doctor about any prior medical condition that you may have including allergies to medicines, food or other substances, if you have diabetes, have heart problems, including irregular heartbeat, liver or kidney disease, low potassium levels, if you have Alzheimer disease, hardening in the arteries in the brain, seizures, increased pressure on the brain, or another central nervous system disorder, have tendonitis, your skin is sensitive to sunlight.
You must not take if you are allergic to any ingredient in it.
If you are pregnant or suspect that you are, then stop using Floxin and contact your doctor immediately.
Floxin is secreted in breast milk. Avoid breast feeding while using the drug.
Floxin should not be used in children as the safety and effectiveness of the drug have not been confirmed yet.
Ensure that you inform your doctor and your dentist about before receiving any form of medical treatment or dental treatment or emergency surgery.
Floxin may make you more sensitive to the sun so please avoid the sun, sunlamps or a tanning booth until you know how your body reacts to the drug. If you cannot avoid going out in the sun for a long while, then wear protective clothing or use a proper sunscreen.
Long term use of the drug may lead to a second infection. Contact your doctor if this occurs.
In some patients, severe diarrhea, bloody/tarry stools and cramps or pain are observed. Contact your doctor immediately if this happens.
Possible Side Effects
Some of the common side effects of are Diarrhea, dizziness, headache, loss of appetite, nausea, nervousness, sensitivity to sunlight, trouble sleeping, vomiting. Please contact your doctor if the symptoms persist or become bothersome.
Other severe side effects include allergic reactions, agitation, anxiety, bizarre behavior, bloody stools, confusion, convulsions, dark urine, depression, diarrhea, difficulty swallowing, excessive urination, thirst, or hunger, fatigue, fever, hallucinations, hoarseness, increased pressure within the head, joint or muscle pain or swelling, lightheadedness, loss of consciousness, nervousness, nightmares, pale stools, rapid heartbeat, rash, skin burning, redness, swelling, blisters, itching, or skin inflammation, restlessness, seizures, sleeplessness, stomach pain/cramps, suicidal thoughts, swelling, tightness of the throat, tingling, tremors, vaginal irritation or discharge, yellowing of skin or eyes.
You must seek medical attention immediately if any of these side effects occur.
